Because this Project addresses a wide range of issues, information about its activities and publications can be found primarily on other pages of the RANSAC web site, in particular in the Congress & Budgets, Reports & Publications, and Issues sections.

The Nuclear Threat Reduction Project focuses on ensuring that fissile material stockpiles and warheads in Russia and the former Soviet states are adequately secured, that excess weapons and materials are effectively eliminated, and that the production of new materials is minimized. The Project concentrates its activities on several key areas of importance, including: evaluating the threats to nuclear stockpiles, especially the risks posed by terrorism, corruption, and organized crime; developing new initiatives to address the evolving threats; monitoring cooperative threat reduction and related program budgets, legislation, progress, and impediments; and analyzing the politics and economics affecting nuclear security.
